Injections lipolysis is a procedure that chemically eliminates the number of fat cells within a treatment area. The FDA-approved treatment that most cosmetic centers use to eliminate double chin fat via injection is called Kybella.
These injections are placed directly into the fat layer below the skin. The active ingredient utilized within Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring element within the body that dissolves fat.
It explicitly dissolves the membrane surrounding the fat cell, causing its internal contents to spill and then be flushed out by the lymphatic system, permanently eliminated from the body.
During the period of swelling the area can look fuller than it did before treatment, but as the fat cells are disrupted and the inflammation subsides, most patients see results by 6 to 8 weeks after a treatment. Unless a patient were to gain weight, the results should be long-lasting.
Injection lipolysis chemically reduces the number of fat cells around the injection site. The chemical, called deoxycholic acid, results in fat cell disruption and death. Currently, it is FDA-approved for treatment of the area underneath the chin to eliminate what is known as a "double chin."
Most patients have at least two treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, which is the typical duration of swelling. Patients can have up to six treatments to the area under the chin. Your plastic surgeon can develop a plan that best suits your individual anatomy. During the period of swelling the area can look fuller than it did before treatment, but as the fat cells are disrupted and the inflammation subsides, most patients see results by 6 to 8 weeks after a treatment. Unless a patient were to gain weight, the results should be long-lasting.
The solution is mixed fresh on the same day of the treatment by a doctor. The formula is only available to medical practitioners who were trained in this procedure. The solution is injected into localized fat pockets (fat tissue under the skin) in a grid like pattern. On the body 1 ml per site (1 cm2) is injected. On the face 0.5 ml per site. An area of two hands is the largest area which can be treated in one session with maximum of 200 ml solution injected (200 injections). A topical anesthetic cream (numbing cream) is applied for 20-30 minutes prior the procedure. There is a certain degree of discomfort experienced by patients during the injections, which varies individually, from minimal to severe.
Depending on the area treated the procedure might take up to 1 hour (which includes the time of topical anesthesia).
This depends on the amount of resistant fat that one wants to dissolve. On average 2 to 3 treatments are needed. They can be repeated every 3-4 weeks. Results are not the same in each patient and vary per individual. Some people do not respond satisfactoraly to Ceccarelli lipolysis solution.
Slow and gradual improvement can be seen after 3 weeks, the maximum results are seen after 8 weeks.
