How Much Dermal Filler For Cheeks?

Look no further than cheek fillers. With age or weight loss, the cheeks naturally lose volume and can look sunken or hollow. Injectable cheek fillers offer a non-surgical solution to this common cosmetic concern.

For many people, the idea of getting dermal fillers for the first time can be quite overwhelming. One of the most overwhelming things can be knowing how much filler you need to achieve the results you want.

The honest answer is that this varies from patient to patient based on a wide variety of factors. However, we can provide an overview of the typical amounts that patients need for each area which will help you have a better idea of what to expect.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are a cosmetic injectable used to restore lost volume and enhance facial features, creating a more youthful or harmonious appearance. Most Filler solutions are made from hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally-occurring substance found in the body, particularly in the skin, connective tissues and eyes. It plays a vital role in retaining moisture, hydrating tissue and providing elasticity to the skin.

When injected into the skin, HA Fillers serve two purposes: volume and hydration. With age, your HA and collagen levels begin to deplete. The viscosity of Dermal Fillers reshapes sunken features with immediate effect with natural-looking results improving over time as the injections stimulate collagen synthesis. By attracting and retaining water, HA molecules provide deep hydration to the treated areas. This not only plumps the skin but improves the overall texture of your complexion.

Which factors determine how much filler you will need for your cheeks?

It is important to first book a consultation to find out whether you are suitable for dermal cheek fillers. Certain factors may determine how much filler you will need in the cheeks for a natural appearance, which can be addressed by your cosmetic doctor. These include:

  • How deep the wrinkles are.

  • How much volume the face has lost.

  • Your specific face shape and features.

  • The type of filler treatment.

Cheeks – Whether you’re looking to create higher cheekbones or reimagine a flattened midface due to age-related volume loss, we typically use 1-3 ml of Filler per cheek.

LipsLip Filler can subtly plump your pout and correct asymmetry with completely natural-looking results. We generally achieve this using 0.5 – 1 ml but, if you’re looking for something a little more pronounced, your practitioner will create a bespoke treatment plan for your lips.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty – Dubbed ‘Liquid Nose Jobs’, Dermal Filler can be used to straighten hooks, balance bridges and lift the tip of the nose with as little as one syringe. That said, the quantity of Filler you require depends on the changes you want to make.

Tear Troughs – The delicate eye area doesn’t normally require any more than 0.5 – 1 ml to banish dark circles and create a fresh-faced appearance.

Nasolabial Folds – Approximately 0.5 – 2 ml is used to soften the lines that run from the nose to the mouth, which become more pronounced in your thirties or forties.

Marionette Lines – The lines etched from the corners of your mouth to your chin develop as your skin begins to sag. 0.5 – 1 ml per side softens the appearance of marionette lines.

Temples – The unsung hero of facial rejuvenation, Temple Filler restores lost volume and discreetly invigorates the skin for a more youthful appearance. 0.5 – 3 ml of solution is used for each side of the face, creating natural-looking results.

Jawline & Chin – Depending on whether you’re aiming to achieve a more heart-shaped face, a sharper jawline, or realign a set-back chin, 1 – 4 ml may be used.

How long does it take for cheek filler to look normal?

After the treatment, you will be able to see the results right away. However, natural swelling and bruising will most likely occur around the treatment area at this time. These side effects will often last for a few days after the dermal cheek filler treatment.

What should you look for in a practitioner when considering cheek filler?

As dermal fillers are not regulated in the UK, anybody can provide dermal filler treatment. Although certain clinics may provide a cheaper treatment, they may not have the appropriate accreditations nor skilled practitioners to inject dermal fillers, leading to botched or sub-optimal results.
