We know there are three types of PDO threads: Mono, Screw and Cog. Today we focus on Cog.

What is a cog thread (1)

Cog threads lifting is a new and effective medical technique for lifting and tightening the skin of the face and neck. This treatment contours the face and stimulates the production of collagen. The lifting effect is complete 6 months after the treatment when collagen is formed around the threads.

What is a cog thread (2)

Cog threads are essentially mono threads with barbs to hook to the underside of the skin. The barbs form a support structure that lifts the sagging tissue. Unlike mono threads, cog threads do not need anchoring points. Collagen formation can also occur around the threads and their barbs. Cog threads are most effective for jawline lifting and slimming.

Use tornado sutures in areas where greater volume is required like nasolabial folds, lip margin etc, mono threads as a mesh to support the tissue. The cog threads are not enough in effective lift as over time get disintegrated  its always better to augment the lift effect of cog threads with grid of mono threads as the over all collagen induction produces better lift over time.
